The Inactive option is the key photo-discovery route, but it is not a time-bounded release list. It also does not state why the booking became inactive or guarantee how long the image will remain online.
Request a Mercer Booking Photo

The sheriff states that a requester need not complete its form or give a name and address under ORC 149.43(B)(5). A requester who withholds contact details must make the request in person under the office's instructions. Mercer Sheriff App Photo Limits

The image supports the app's official identity, not a claim that it contains booking photos. The browser-based sheriff roster remains the verified first-party photo channel.
This distinction also applies to the Mercer County 24-Hour Releases page. The county has no verified 24-hour photo release feed. A current app menu may change, but an on-device observation should be dated and should not override the sheriff's official booking or court record.
Ohio Prison Photos Differ
The ODRC Offender Search covers people incarcerated in Ohio prisons, under department supervision, or judicially released within its stated scope. An offender detail may contain a photograph. That image belongs to the state corrections record. It may be newer, older, or simply different from the photograph taken during a Mercer County jail booking.
Use name, date of birth, offender number, county of commitment, and docket to match a state record. ODRC says an offender number should include its A, R, or W prefix and six digits. Status choices such as Incarcerated, Released, APA Supervision, and Violators at Large have specific meanings. If the inactive Mercer record follows a Common Pleas prison sentence, an ODRC Incarcerated result may show a transfer rather than release into the community. The photo helps match identity, while the court judgment and agency status explain custody.

Mercer Mugshot Removal Questions
As of the July 31, 2026 research date, no current codified Ohio statute was verified that specifically bars a private mugshot publisher from charging for removal. Do not claim a universal Ohio right to have every image removed. Ohio sealing and expungement are governed by Chapter 2953, including ORC 2953.32. Eligibility and effect depend on the offense and case. The current text includes exclusions and authorized uses. Do not call a person free because a photo moved into an inactive result. Do not describe Projected Out Date as the actual exit time. Avoid treating an arrest label as a conviction.
